PROFESSIONAL  DIPLOMA DRAMA COURSE

 

PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA DRAMA COURSE 2013

 

Dates: Weds 16th January – Fri 22nd March (10wks) & 8th April – 31st May (9 wks) 2 days per week, 6 hours per day minimum, possibly more during performances or filming.

Physical Theatre & Animal Study
Singing & Dance
Music Hall
Stand-up Comedy & Clowning
Writing and Devising
Film & TV Acting

All students will be entered for the Trinity Licentiate Diploma in Performance Arts at the end of the course.  This Diploma is rated Level 6 on the NQF Framework and is equivalent to a University degree.  Students who pass the exam are entitled to wear an academic gown and become Licentiates of Trinity College placing LTCL after their name.

The Trinity Guilhall Exam

Supporting Theory – A written paper of two and a half hours in which the candidate will be required to show intelligent engagement with a variety of theatre forms and demonstrate critical and analytical skills in developing ideas for rehearsal and performance.

Reflective Practice – Candidates must submit an essay of approx. 4000 words on the topic of performing, reflecting insights gained through four different examples of first hand performing experience.

Performance and Viva Voce – Candidates will present a half hour varied, integrated performance, showing a high level of contrasting theatre forms and styles.  This is followed by a discussion with the examiner on the work presented, technical aspects of performance and rehearsal approach.

Performance - During the course all students will take part in a cabaret style performance at our associate venue, The Battersea Barge, London.  They will be expected to develop contributory skills such as poster and flyer design and production and stage management skills.

Film - All students will conceive, write and perform in a short film with a professional director and editor.

The course is 2 days per week to allow all students to work during the course.  Time off will also be given for auditions and professional commitments, by arrangement with the course leader.  The timetable will be subject to change according to student and tutor availability and may take place in more then one venue.

Sarah Mann LTCL, Arts Ed. Dip is the Artistic Director and Course Director for this acting course. 

Sarah is a Trinity examiner, actress, producer and writer who studied at The Arts educational Schools, London.  Sarah co-founded Incisor Theatre Company in 1988 and has produced many productions for stage and screen.  She has also been assistant manager at The Fortune Theatre in Covent Garden.  Her particular interest is in Shakespeare which she has taught in London, Brighton, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and The Seychelles.

Drama Course Entry Requirements and Enquiries:

Trinity ATCL Diploma or equivalent professional experience. All Students must show evidence of past drama training and experience and are required to send a full CV, Letter of intent and 2 references by e-mail to: Sarahmann7@hotmail.co.uk

Candidates will be asked to audition if they have not previously studied at The London Drama School.


Drama Course Fees: £3020 inclusive of Trinity Exam Fee (£305)

Please note this course needs a minimum of 5 students to run and a maximum of 8 students to ensure personalised tuition.
