Foundation Drama Course

 

Course Ref. KAF (26 hours per week)

This course is designed to build confidence and give students an understanding of dialogue and create awareness of physicality; it enables the student to understand the psychology of acting. Students will also learn how to create a character through analysis of English texts, while learning how to use voice and body correctly, thus preparing the students for auditions to more advanced Drama courses and interviews for the professional world.

COURSE   OUTLINE

Theatre studies, Stanislavski and The Method, acting skills, improvisation exercises,  work on texts with directors, voice (breathing exercises, modulation, and voice projection), audition technique, introduction to some Shakespeare duologues, singing (students learn the breathing techniques used by professional actors, as well as how to develop their voice range and prepare their audition songs), speech training, movement: (flexibility and general fitness is very important for actors) - all movement is based on Alexander technique, Yoga and Pilates), Trinity Guildhall exams Grades 6, and 7, optional advanced English (EFL) language support (designed for non-native English speakers who are interested in improving their language skills). 

There is an end-of-year in-house showcase.
