AIMS
This Course encourages students to demonstrate aspects of professional competence in performance arts.
PREREQUISITES
All students must have Trinity Guildhall ATCL Diploma in performing or a comparable qualification.
This course is ideally for students who have already completed our Advanced Acting Course or have already been in further Education for a minimum of 2 years.
Students will take the Trinity Guildhall LTCL Degree in Performance Arts which is level 6 and equivalent to an Honours Degree on the NQF national framework.
Some of their work will be performed as part of a Showcase in a West End Theatre as well as in several productions at the award winning fringe venue, The Cock Tavern in Kilburn.
COURSE OUTLINE
In preparation for their exam students will be exploring Singing, Dance, Acting, Mime, Improvisation, Clowning, Stand-up comedy and TV & Film Acting as well as benefiting from visiting directors and arts professionals. Students will submit an essay on their performing experience and also sit a theory exam in which they will demonstrate intelligent engagement with a variety of theatre forms, range of texts and development from page to stage in four past productions.
During the Course students will devise and make a short film with an experienced Director as well as work towards several fringe productions at the Cock Tavern in Kilburn. They will work with experienced Directors and Producers and learn about all aspects of production from press releases to props.
Students will be encouraged to work in their spare time and to pursue artistic endeavours such as singing at various cabaret venues including The Cellar Door or trying out a stand-up routine at Comedy Circus in Piccadilly – London Drama School benefits from our association with these venues amongst others.
They will also be devising and mounting their own production at our rehearsal rooms for an invited audience. Rehearsal space will be available on request and students will explore all aspects of pre-production. Sometimes students will be sent on work experience if suitable opportunities arise.
Whilst on the course the students will also put together their Actors Show reel which is an essential part of the Actors toolkit. Opportunities for photographs and workshops with agents and casting directors will also be available.
